Virtually every type of architectural style can be found in Los Angeles. The City of Angels is certainly blessed when it comes to boasting an urban landscape filled with architectural genius. With countless commercial buildings that take architectural design to another level, it’s a virtual wonderland of eclectic visual delight filled with originality and inspiration.
Alpha Omega Contractors has decades of experience in commercial construction in Southern California, refreshing lobbies, entryways, common ways, and redesigning interior and exterior features for commercial buildings in Los Angeles. While we’re industry leaders in our areas of expertise, we thought it would be interesting to share a few examples of exciting architectural designs in 3 iconic commercial buildings in Los Angeles.
Los Angeles unequivocally has a lot to offer with many unique commercial designs from The U.S. Bank Tower’s prominence as a LA skyline beacon, to renowned architect Frank Gehry’s masterful Walt Disney Concert Hall, to the contrasting textural honeycomb-like facade of the neighboring Broad Museum.
U.S. Bank Tower
Look at any skyline view or aerial view of Los Angeles and the U.S. Bank Tower stands out as a beacon downtown with 73 floors reaching skyward, boasting 1,018 vertical feet. It’s the tallest building in LA. Located at 633 Fifth Street, the stunning skyscraper took only two years to build and was completed in 1989 with a $350-million price tag.
The building’s postmodernism design by architect Henry N. Cobb of the internationally-known Pei Cobb Freed & Partners architectural firm is sublime. Based on concentric geometries, one circular and the other composed of right angles, the round-shaped high-rise features four soaring setbacks with a glass crown peaked at the top that illuminates in the night sky.
Check out the U.S. Bank Tower’s gorgeous lobby design of its interior on U.S. Bank’s Facebook Page. If you’re a commercial business owner who likes aspects of this design, AO Contractors specializes in commercial interiors and would be glad to consult with you about refreshing the interior of your commercial building in Los Angeles.
Walt Disney Concert Hall
Built by award-winning Canadian-American architect Frank Gehry, the Walt Disney Concert Hall, located at 111 S. Grand Avenue, holds dominance by occupying an entire downtown city block.
The LA landmark is considered one of his most prominent pieces in his portfolio of work that spans over 50 years. Opening its doors in 2003, the nearly $1 billion mixed-use complex took more than 15 years to build. The curved, flowing stainless steel shapes of the exterior of Disney Hall are based on sailing.
As we discussed in previous posts, the use of design metals often adds unique dimension and texture throughout your space. Our ability to adjust its shape allows for optimal results with complex customizations. Whether it’s redesigning, repurposing, or creating a new space, we help our clients improve value in their investments.
The Broad Museum
Located next to Walt Disney Concert Hall, Los Angeles’s iconic landmark of contemporary architecture, the Broad Museum was designed by New York-based architect firm Diller Scofidio + Renfro. The 120,000 square-foot building features two floors of gallery space and is the headquarters of The Broad Art Foundation’s worldwide lending library of artwork and storage for the pieces of work nicknamed the vault.
The gallery has 23-foot-high ceilings, and the roof is supported by 7-foot-deep steel girders. Visitors exit the third floor via a winding central stair through the vault that offers glimpses into its vast collection.
One of the aspects that impressed us beyond the architecture and interior is that the Broad Museum is Gold LEED certified for its sustainable design and practices. When it comes to commercial interior improvements, renovations, and remodels, our expertise goes far beyond design and functionality. We are highly experienced in California Title 24 and ADA compliance, LEED certifications, and building codes throughout Los Angeles and all Southern California jurisdictions.
Does your next commercial building project in Los Angeles need to be refreshed? Check out our portfolio. Like the famed architect expresses, we too enjoy exacting our work to the interior and exterior of each space, transforming it to meet each client’s unique needs.
